My Confessions #5 ~ Real Life

Welcome to another edition of Confession Wednesdays. I debated whether I was going to post this week, we’ve had quite a time. My youngest son (he’s two) broke his leg on Mothers Day. My 4yr old has a high fever, and now my eldest is home sick as well. I should call this WTF Wednesday instead — but I won’t. Here is my confession this week. Are you ready? You sure? *sighs* Okay. I’m burnt out. I’m exhausted, stressed, tired, forlorn, depressed, angry and depleted. I have to find my happy place again. How’s that for a real life confession.   Tweet

Tantalizing Tuesday ~ (4)

Welcome to another addition of Tantalizing Tuesdays. A group of us write you a 200 word story based on a picture of our choosing, and we present them to you for comment Enjoy, and follow the links to the other flashers ;D     Annabelle perched on the polished wood desk and stared into her lovers eyes, waiting for him to give her his next command. “Slide forward and put your left foot up onto the arm of the chair, Anna.” She slowly lifted her leg, stroking his thigh with the three inch spikes gracing her feet as she balanced onto the thin arm, careful not to hurt him with her heel. Blood tended to kill a mood. “Hmm, yes, just like that. Now the other foot, and spread those fabulous legs wide. Did you wear the thigh high’s like I told you? And the crotchless panties?” His eyes locked onto her creamy lips and he pressed his large bulge in blatant appraisal of how she followed his directions to the letter. “Yes, Sir.” she [ Read More ]

Within the Levels ~ Trust ~ Part Two

A few weeks ago, I wrote the first part of this post, entitled The Levels of Trust, I would recommend you read the first part, and the comments, before continuing on with our discussion on Trust. I’ve been trying to figure out what aspect of trust I want to continue with as there are so many levels within levels. Today, I want to discuss JUDGMENT. And I’m not talking about how we (general we) judge each other on a petty scale, or the keeping up with the Jones’ level of judging, but how we actually judge someone worthy of total trust, or an identity-based trust level. Tessa Wanton brought up Naivety and Judgment in her comments on my original trust post, which spurred me to write this post. So, thank you, Tessa. Here is the definition of judgment, from dictionary. judg·ment [juhj-muhnt] noun 1. An act or instance of judging. 2. The ability to judge, make a, or form an opinion objectively, authoritatively, and wisely, especially in matters affecting action; good sense; discretion: a man [ Read More ]

My Confessions (4) Author Edition ~ Music

Wow, the weeks fly by. It’s already Wednesday again. (All right, in truth it’s Tuesday and I’m preparing for tomorrow. *laughs*) You know what today is…Confession Wednesday.   Today I’m going Author style. *Puts on her Author Hat* Let’s talk MUSIC. I know a lot of Authors write to music, either to set a scene, a mood, or pump up their blood so they can focus and write. So… here is my confession this week…  Are you ready? You sure? *Takes a deep breath* And…..   I don’t write to music. Phew. There, I admitted a little piece of myself for you. I am a self-proclaimed music whore. I love music. I’ll give you my top five bands in a minute. So, you might be wondering … how do you write? Is it quiet at your house? (Um, you’ve read I have four children, right? Do you think it’s quiet here…ever?)  Generally, if I’m home I write in bed, with the door locked, and a few toys handy my large…box fan whirring. You read [ Read More ]

Tantalizing Tuesday (3) ~ Please

Welcome to another addition of Tantalizing Tuesday! A 200 word story awaits your palate. Remember to follow the links at the end of the post. Welcome to my 200 word Tantalizing Story… This is from a Work In Progress with Benjamin T. Russell. In the words of Missy Elliot – Copywritten –so don’t copy me. Boom. *laughs* Bryce stood in the living room gazing out the massive floor to ceiling windows into the dark skyline of Chicago. Moonlight kissed his chocolate skin, highlighting the ripples and ridges of his muscled physique, and the urge to trace each one with her tongue made her add an extra sway to her hips. He’d taken off his shirt, probably to tease her. The wine didn’t allow her to worry about her small breast size, or the fact her and Bryce were finally in the same place, practically naked. She pressed herself against his back, molding her smaller frame to his, feeling every hot inch of him burn into her. Branding her. She slid her hands around his waist, [ Read More ]

Cover Reveal ~ Finding Balance (Marriage #2)

Good Morning and Happy Monday! By the way, that was sarcasm. We are dealing with a stomach bug over here at my house, so if you were inclined to visit, you might want to stay home. Although, the germs don’t seem to transfer over the internet, so you’re probably safe if you just visit my blog instead =) Thankfully, I’m feeling better at least, but it was a terse weekend filled with vomit and fever for me. Sorry, was that too much information? My bad. Anyway. I’m about 85%, which is good because my daughter (who turns six tomorrow, and had a school field trip today) woke throwing up Poor thing. So, I figured, what the heck, since Mondays usually suck, might as well attempt to turn the tide and reveal my new cover! So, without further ado, here is the cover for FINDING BALANCE. #2 in my Marriage series following Eliza and Jett on their journey. No release date or blurb just yet, sorry! So, do you like it? I love it. It conveys [ Read More ]

My Confessions #3

Lets see, what to confess this week. I mean really, how deep do I want you to get into me? Uh, I mean, get to know me. Maybe that can be my confession this week. I love double word play, and enjoy witty banter…but… nah. I can ‘come’ ‘up’ with something more enjoyable for you to sample about me. Shit. I mean learn about me. *laughs* So… In Confession #1, you learned I cannot fall asleep. It takes me hours because my very active brain doesn’t have an off button. In Confession #2, you learned I am a junk food junkie… Yea, I know. Sugar addicts unite! This week I am at a loss what to confess. I could tell you that… No, no. I can’t tell you that until later, when I have my claws firmly dug into you and you have no desire to escape. I could probably confess I love…Shit. Nope can’t confess that juicy little morsel either. Damn. So let’s start with some basic fears, shall we? 1) Spiders. Yea, I [ Read More ]

Tantalizing Tuesday ~ (2) Just One Taste

It’s Tantalizing Tuesday everyone~ A 200 word story based on a picture of my choosing. Please follow the links to the other Tantalizing Tuesday Author Flashes, and read what they wrote. I promise you will be teased and tormented. This is a little taste of a work in progress.     The night passed so quickly, given the potency and charisma of the man walking her to her hotel room door. His heated looks, and slumbering bedroom eyes drove her wild, and when his hand had slipped up her dress under the table and grazed her exposed lips? She’d been putty, melting in a hot rush of longing. They swore they’d only be friends. They’d promised if they met in person they could behave. They’d tried so hard to keep their hands off each other. But the little touches – his hand at the small of her back, the pads of his fingers caressing down her arm as he grasped her small hand in his, sent shivers of desire down her spine and straight [ Read More ]

Making the Hard Decisions as a Writer

Good Morning and Happy Monday! Well, it’s light outside, so I guess it’s classified as morning, and since I woke up, that’s a plus too. But really, where did that expression come from? Just curious. I’m not going to digress into exploring the saying — well, not right this very second … don’t worry. *laughs* So, I have been doing a lot of thinking, and I’ve come to a decision — I think. Fractured Moon is going to be re-worked and re-configured. Since writing Fractured Moon, Finding Time, and learning every day, I believe this is the wisest course. Fractured Moon could be a great novel. Instead, it’s just all right. And quiet frankly, all right isn’t good enough. You feel me? The story and plot are unusual, and I know that what I want to bring to the table is different and unique, but I need to do a better job explaining a few key plot points, and I need to re-work a few scenes as well as alter sentence structure where it’s choppy. Flash Fiction Friday (22) Fuck You, Fate.

There is a caveat to my flash this week! YOU HAVE TO READ BENJAMIN’S FIRST! So, come back when you’re done <3 *laughs*  A 100 word story — no more, no less.  Yesterday I posted “Do you believe in Fate“, this flash sort of ties in with that piece, and the WIP I’m writing with Benji.   Ryanne closed her eyes on the Oracle’s pronouncement. Her brain pounded in her head, circling frantically for a different answer. An acceptable answer. Shivers wracked her limbs as her flesh broke out in goosebumps. She tried to make sense of it all. She was aware of the frenetic thoughts racing around for dominance, but all she felt was numb. She closed her eyes against the pain, shielding her battered heart. No. Just fucking no. Fuck that shitty finality. Fuck her and her creepy fucking double eyes. Fuck him, too, for bringing her here. Fuck fate and happiness. They don’t exist.   Follow the links to the other flashers Be aware some sites are not suitable for work, children, [ Read More ]

Do you believe in Fate? A sneak peak into a complicated WIP

According to Chinese and Japanese legends, the Red String of Fate, Red Thread of Destiny, and the Red Thread of Fate exist because Gods tie an invisible red string around the ankles of those destined to meet, either in a certain situation, or to help each other in some way. (Taken from Wikipedia) The two people connected by the red thread are destined lovers, regardless of time, place, or circumstances. This magical cord may stretch or tangle, but never break. This myth is similar to the Western concept of soulmates or a twin flame. The romantic in me wants to believe in soul-mates and Fate. The logical Virgo aspect of myself balks at someone or some divine person running my life, or playing with my future. But the concept intrigues me. Some days I wonder, and get awe-inspired and mushy just thinking about it. Along those lines, I wonder if a person can have two soul-mates, or if a persons soul can be fractured and demand more than one person could offer. I suppose [ Read More ]

My Confessions #2

#2 I’m a junk food, freaking, junkie. There, I said it. In really big letters. I love chocolate. Oreo cookies. Oatmeal cream pies…damn you little debbie! I like Bear Claws and those little fake donuts with the crumbs on them. I love Snickers Bars and Mounds Bars. I love Brownies (Especially my MIL’s homemade fudge brownies, OMG *thud* ) I love to make homemade cookies and pretend they are healthy. I use real oatmeal, and dark chocolate chips and honey as a sweetener… so they aren’t ‘unhealthy’ *laughs* I like to eat salty things with sweet things. I’ve been known to sit and alternate eating a few potato chips with something sugary… like cookies. Oh — and on the Oreo Cookie front (those are my favorite, by the way) I like to use a spoon, and have a glass of milk. I drop the cookies in, get them all soggy, lift with a spoon and inhale them   Oh, I just re-read that sentence. I think I might have issues <sigh> ** This is classic [ Read More ]

Tantalizing Tuesday ~ (1) No Regrets

Welcome to Tantalizing Tuesday, where a two hundred word story awaits you from a picture prompt. This week I chose the following photo: Make sure you scroll down and follow the links to some extremely talented authors and their stories.     My stomach had been in knots that entire week, and I’d almost chickened out. I’d almost called him and canceled more than once. I’d been a nervous wreck. What if I imagined everything? Still, when Saturday came, I’d stuffed down my insecurities, and boarded the train headed for salvation. Well, my salvation. I’d told three people what I was doing. They all told me I was crazy, and yea – I already sort of knew that. But when a connection is so powerful you can’t eat, or sleep without the other person, well, you follow your heart, and you don’t look back. My life up until the moment I got off that train had been great, but there had always been a secret longing, a yearning I couldn’t explain. I jumped into [ Read More ]

The Levels of Trust ~ Part One

Currently, I’m working on a project that requires a total level of trust, and it made me start to think about trust, and how hard it is to earn, and how fast it can disappear. There are so many fake people in the world, who will use and abuse, manipulate and attempt to garner favor at the demise and detriment of others. There are basically three levels of trust, according to my research. I have summarized from Leading with Trust, and a few other sources. Deterrence-Based Trust (aka Calculus-Based Trust) Knowledge-Based Trust Identity-Based Trust Deterrence based trust is commonly found in the workplace, and within work relationships. But it is the first step in any relationship. It is the knowledge that one will not take advantage of another for their own personal gain. Knowledge based trust is a more intimate level of trust, and is usually found at the beginning of relationships with friends and lovers. This means that you have a pretty good idea of the person on a fundamental level, and you can gauge [ Read More ]

My Confessions #1

I’m starting a confessional series. Feel free to add your own confessionals So I’ve had a shit week. It can be summed up simply by saying… I’m crazy. Hence the title of the banner, and confessions of a crazy Virgo. Do you know about Virgos? Let me enlighten you, just a little bit. Virgo Key Words: Strengths: Practical, loyal, hardworking, analytical, kind. Weaknesses: Worry, shyness, overly critical of self and others, all work and no play. Charismatic marks: A certain, reserved manner marks the classic Virgo. Virgos are generally medium to slight in build. Likes: Cleanliness, animals, healthy foods, books, nature. Dislikes: Taking center stage, rudeness, asking for help. Best environment: Virgo is most at home in the company of animals and close to nature. Flash Fiction Friday (21) Follow Me...

Hey everyone, it’s friday and for the first time in many weeks, I’m late with my flash. It’s been a long day and it’s only *looks up* 1:42pm. Without futher ado, I hope you enjoy my flash this week. 100 words, no more, no less.   The moment I saw him I knew. I sauntered up to him in the smoky, crowded bar and whispered in his ear, “Come with me, don’t ask questions.” Then I turned and sashayed out of the bar, hoping he’d follow. From that one small touch, that one shallow inhale, his essence clung to my skin. As we strolled down the sidewalk towards my apartment I sensed his eyes caressing my body. My core heated and I led him upstairs where I told him to lay on the couch, facing my easel. I unzipped my dress and began to paint.   Join my other cohorts in flashing, follow the links and see what they thought of this weeks photo prompt: Muffy Wilson: http://muffywilson.blogspot.com Lee Brazil: http://leebrazilauthor.blogspot.com Katie Harper: http://katieharperwrites.blogspot.com/ Jp [ Read More ]
