Good Morning – Yo.
I’m getting ready to publish “Cold Bitch” My big, fat, book of teenage poetry. I’m hoping to have the novel completed in the next week or so, just in time for the Holidays.
I’ve written in some form, for most of my life. Poetry, stories, a diary. Anything to rid myself of the swimming thoughts and emotions that reside in my head. I don’t remember when I penned the one below, but I wrote it as an adult, not a teen.
It’s more a rap based poem. Hey, don’t laugh. I can spit with Bone Thugs N’ Harmony.
Without further ado, I give you “Lock Down”
Sick of searching for clues
trying to decipher the changing moods
my mind zeros in, a never ending spin
wondering what I’ve done, what I should do,
what my next step should be
Irritated it’s always me
Me. The common denominator
These days I feel like a hater, or maybe a poser
don’t worry, I won’t expose ya
The secrets and lies, you know I despise
Yet it was par for the course
I got wrapped up in the force
But now I’ve got clarity, a simple form
I’ve got you on lock down
my heart won’t beat rapid sound
my light was taken for granted
the seeds that were planted
I’ve dug out and tossed away
The Virgo stamp no longer a way
The virgin lay defeated and deflowered
It now serves as a reminder
To be true to what’s real.
I’m working on the cover for “Cold Bitch” It’s almost ready to be shown. I really, really like the cover. Originally I was going to title my poetry book “My big fat book of teenage poetry” playing off the Greek wedding movies. But as I was typing the poems out, a theme developed, and suddenly I knew I had to change the title. Anyway. Happy Friday!
